Helen A. Fiwek
December 28, 1879 - December 6, 1963

Mrs. Helen A. (Grzesk) Fiwek, 83, who resided with a grandson, John Sniadecki, 5103 W. Washington St., died at 6am today in St Joseph’s Hospital after a three week illness. Mrs.Fiwek came here 80 years ago from Poland, where she was born on December 28, 1879. As Helen Repczynski she was married on October 8, 1923, to Casimir Fiwek, who died September 19, 1962. She is survived by a son, Clement Fiwek, St Joseph County Treasurer; a daughter, Mrs. Sophie Sniadecki, South Bend; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Hazinski of South Bend and Mrs. Hattie Hosinski of Houston TX. Friends may call after 6:30pm Saturday in the St Joseph Funeral Home. Services will be at 9am Monday n St Adalbert’s Catholic Church with Very Rev. Msgr. Ignatius J. Gapczynski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery.

Mrs. Fiwek was a member of Felician Sisters Auxiliary, the Ladies Rosary Society and the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America of St Adalbert’s Church. She was one of the organizers of St Joseph’s Society, of the Polish Women’s Alliance, Group 65 and also one of the organizers and first president of St Adalbert’s PTA. The rosary will be recited at 7pm Saturday and 2pm Sunday in the funeral home.
