SOUTH BEND - Marion J. "Cy" Szajko, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:43 a.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010, in Hospice House. Marion was born on June 15, 1922, in South Bend, IN, to Frank and Antonina (Tomczak) Szajko, and was a lifelong resident. He retired from A.M. General after 16 years of employment. He had also been employed with the former Studebaker Corporation and Layne-Northern. On June 26, 1943, in St. Hedwig Church, he married Margaret F. Orzechowski, who preceded him in death on July 20, 2010. Also preceding him in death was his son, Jim Szajko. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia (Anthony) Stough of Dunedin, FL, Anne Szajko of Huntersville, NC, and June (Laury) Getford of Sanibel Island, FL; five sons, Ray Szajko of South Bend, IN, Bill (Kathleen) Szajko of South Bend, IN, Tom (Cathy) Szajko of Mishawaka, IN, Paul (Vickey) Szajko of Niles, MI, and Dan Szajko of Huntersville, SC; one daughter-in-law, Lydia Szajko of Edlin, NC; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in St. Anthony de Padua Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Marion was a member of St. Anthony de Padua parish and a former usher. He was a W.W.
