SOUTH BEND - Maria Galea, 85, of South Franklin Street, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Galea was born on March 31, 1913, in Siderno Marina, Italy. In 1929, as Maria Crupi, she married Guiseppe Galea, who died on Aug. 4, 1998. She is survived by two daughters, Immaculate Macri and Rosa Sgambelluri, both of South Bend; a son, Agostino Galea of South Bend; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Cosimo Crupi of Australia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
