SOUTH BEND - Carl E. Egyhazi, 87, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Carl was born Nov. 19, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Julius & Elizabeth (Folki) Egyhazi. Carl was also preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Egyhazi, Liz Wolfram, Frances Mittermeyer; and brothers, Joe, Julius & Steve Egyhazi; & grandson, Christopher Barreto. On May 26, 1962, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, Carl married Mary Lou Van Overberghe; she survives along with their children, Philip Egyhazi of South Bend, Paula (Rey) Barreto of New Carlisle, Terry Egyhazi of South Bend; granddaughter, Angela Barreto of New Carlisle; sister, Florence "Cookie" Wisneski of South Bend; and brothers, John Egyhazi of South Bend and William "Willie" (Faye) Egyhazi of South Bend. Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corps, and he was employed with the Torrington Corporation for many years. Carl was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; he loved to fish, watching Notre Dame football, and was a member of the UAW. Visitation for Carl will be 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Friday, August 16, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
