NEW CARLISLE - Rose Horvath, 95, of New Carlisle, passed away at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, July 22 in Miller's Merry Manor. Rose was born on August 14, 1914 in South Bend to Louis and Rose Halassy. On September 29, 1934, in St. John Kanty Church, Rolling Prairie, she married Stephen A. Horvath, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2008. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Margaret Prihoda and Ida Chiszar; and two brothers, Louis and Julius Halassy. Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Marcell) Cooreman of New Carlisle; two sons, Richard S. (Jeannine) Horvath and Allen J. (Gay) Horvath both of New Carlisle; six grandchildren, Philip S. Horvath, Joel R. (Erica) Horvath, Janet G. (Leon Bogucki) Horvath, Cheryl A. Cooreman, Stacy M. Cooreman, and Dana R. Cooreman; three great-grandchildren, Bradley Horvath, Jaden Horvath, and Alex Bogucki; and one sister, Betty Halassy of New Carlisle. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2010 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend. Rose was a member of the Bootjack Community Club. She was a former member of the Ladies Bowling League at Black Cat Lanes and a former volunteer for the Red Cross. She enjoyed gardening, African Violets, and fishing. She was a Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Ambulance Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
