SOUTH BEND - Peter Beczkiewicz of Annandale, VA, died on April 3, 2015, at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Peter is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanore; three children: Mary Ellen Turner (Phil), James M. Beczkiwicz (Lynne) and Peter M Beczkiewicz; four grand-daughters, Brittany, Kala, Izabel and Elena Becz-kiewicz; brother, Thomas J. Beczkiewicz (Ania); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Genevieve Becz-kiewicz, and and by his brother, Paul Beczkiewicz. Born in South Bend, Indiana, Peter graduated from Marmion Military Academy (Aurora, IL) and from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point, NY) and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant--Armor in 1951. While on active duty, Peter received a Master of Arts degree in Science Teaching from Columbia University and subsequently served as a Chemistry instructor from 1957 to 1960 at the U.S. Military Academy. His military service spanned over 22 years and included assignments in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Fort Devens, West Point, Fort Leavenworth, Fort Knox, and his final active duty assignment, Chief of Plans--Plans Divison --U. S. Army General Staff at the Pentagon. After retiring from military service, Peter was a Chemistry teacher at Lake Braddock Secondary School (Burke, VA) for 16 years. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Annadale, VA. Interment with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Capital Caring, 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA.
