MISHAWAKA, IN - Robert F. Gorny Sr., 87, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 8:56 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 in Hospice House of South Bend. Bob was born on October 4, 1931 in Mishawaka to Franciszek and Stella (Pawlowski) Gorny. On October 6, 1951 Bob married Nancy C. Gerndt in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Bob and Nancy just shared their 67th wedding anniversary. Nancy survives along with their children, Laura (Ricky) Montgomery, Robert F. (June) Gorny Jr., and Frank (Joanne) Gorny all of Mishawaka; thirteen grandchildren, Edward (Jennifer) Montgomery, Adam (Mandy) Montgomery, Mary Van Vooren, Nathan Gorny, Crystale (Allie) Gorny, Nick (Michelle) Standfield, Ryan Grill, Joseph Grill, Danielle Grill, Pam Dziadosz, Linda (Brandon) Grove, Amanda (Andrew) Murray, and Robbie (Kelly) Sipkema; twenty-two great grandchildren: Mitchell, Thomas, Dylan, Noyel, Andrew, Owen, and Chloe Montgomery; Alexis and Hunter Van Vooren; Kaden Gorny, Landon, Aydan, and Aryana Grill; Madison and Camden Anderson; Tristan Dziadosz, London Grove, Robert Beck; Aidan, Reaghan, Rylan, and Lincoln Murray. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Teresa M. Grill and Valerie A. Standfield; a son-in-law, Richard M. “Rick” Standfield; two sisters, Phyllis F. Gorny and Hedwige Patricia Clark; and three brothers, Irvin Gorny, Norbert Gorny, and Henry Gorny. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Mishawaka and was employed for many years at Wheelabrator in Mishawaka, and retired from St. Joseph Community Hospital in Mishawaka. Visitation for Bob will be on Tuesday, December 11 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka; a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 South Mill Street, Mishawaka with Father Christopher Lapp officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Church Capital Campaign or to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545-5234.
