SOUTH BEND - Mary G. Arndt, 90, of South Bend, died Sunday, November 20th, in Memorial Hospital following an illness. Mrs. Arndt was born September 29, 1926, in South Bend, to the late Agatha C. (Peaney) and Joseph A. Dietl, and was a lifetime area resident. On July 10, 1944, in South Bend, as Mary G. Dietl, she married Virgil F. Arndt, who preceded her in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Virgil F. Jr. and Mark, and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons, Edward Arndt (Ruth Gaby) of South Bend and Richard Arndt (Sandra) of Cassopolis, MI; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Angela and Ashleigh; and four great-grandchildren, Curtis, Cassidy, Adam, Jr., and Kaitlyn.Mary had worked for many years for the South Bend Community School Corporation in the cafeterias at Clay Jr. High School, Clay Middle School and Clay High School. She was a longtime member of the Clay Democratic Club and VFW Post 624 Auxiliary.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 28th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Committal services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 until 5 p.m. and from 12 noon until the time of the services in the funeral home on Monday.Memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or Logan Community Resources, 2505 E.
