Charles Smoroske, 81, formerly of Decatur, Mich., died at 3:50 p.m.Wednesday in St. Joseph's Hospital. He had been residing with his daughter, Mrs. Don Moubray, 3302 Ford St. for the last several months. Mr. Smoroske was the caretaker at a summer camp at Lake of the Woods, Decatur. He was born in LaPorte County on Dec. 15, 1885. His wife, the former Ethel Meyers, died in 1929. Besides his daughter, he is survived by seven sons, George Smorse of Miami, Fla., Claude Smorse of Long Beach, Calif., Charles Smoroske of South Bend, Cecil Smoroske ofAnaheim, Calif., James Smoroske of Lexington, Ky., Floyd Smoroske of Indianapolis and Lloyd Smoroske of Modesto, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepbrothers, Mike Platts and Richard Reed, both of South Bend, and John Tawleske of Bristol; and two sisters, Mrs. Verna Schultz of Mishawaka and Mrs. Frances Dornbrock of Michigan City. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 1to 9 p.m. Friday in the Hickey Funeral Home. Services will be held there at 2 p.m. Saturday and burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
