SOUTH BEND - Joan N. Smoroske-Collier, 90 years old, passed away at 6:35 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Becky. Joan was born on July 3, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Delbert and Marie (Yoder) Bunch. She was raised in Lakeville and has been a resident of our local area, also living in LaPorte. In November of 1983 in LaPorte, she married Gerald Collier, who preceded her in death in November of 1989. Joan retired in 1991 from Howmet where she was employed for 25 years. Joan is survived by her four children, Becky A. (John) Swoveland of South Bend, Jan L. (Gary) Shonkwiler of Brazil, IN, Donald C. (Judy) Smoroske of South Bend, and David M. (Rhonda) Smoroske of New Carlisle; ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers: Mardell Wheelock, Judy Tirotta, Betty Lou Bunch, Jack Bunch, Don Bunch, Jay Bunch, Bob Bunch, Denny Bunch and Jim Bunch. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Greg Crump will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Lakeville Cemetery, Lakeville, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
