[N14887] SOUTH BEND - Stephen Richard Lechtanski Jr., 80, of South Bend, passed away on Monday, Sept. 24, 2007.
Born December 9, 1926, in South Bend, he was the son of the late Stephen and Genivive (Kolesik) Lechtanski. On September 10, 1949, Stephen married the former Lillian Robaska. She survives in South Bend. Also surviving are two sons, Robert Lechtanski of South Bend and Russell (Lynn) Lechtanski of Osceola; three grandchildren, Tyler Lechtanski, Jacob Wargo and Emily Wargo; three sisters, Evelyn Bogner, Shirley Stevens and Delores Fritch; and a brother, Leonard Lechtanski. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a son, Richard. Stephen was a Navy veteran of World War II, being discharged in 1946. He loved bowling, golfing, fishing, gambling with his wife, Notre Dame, and was a member of the VFW, PNA, and the Bowlers Country Club. A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. SBT September 27, 2007
