Kay Frances "GMom or Grandma Kay" Kletka

ANCHORAGE, AK - Longtime Anchorage resident, formerly of South Bend, Kay "GMom or Grandma Kay" Frances Kletka, 77, went to be with our Lord on December 31, 2013 in Anchorage. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Sunset Hills Baptist Church, 12130 Old Seward Hwy. in Anchorage. Pastor Don Shannon will officiate. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. A celebration of Kay's life will follow the services at 5:30 p.m. at the church. Kay was born July 14, 1936 to Lloyd Russell & Myrtle Irene (Hoskins) Reynolds in South Bend, Indiana. She moved to Alaska in 1967 where she began working for the Federal Government/BLM in November of 1973. She then worked for the Joint Pipeline Office from which she retired in September of 2002. She enjoyed working the mineral patent applications for mining claims. That determination led her to write a booklet guiding the miners through the process and preparing a mining application. Kay garnered an award for her work with the mining community and helped to create a climate of understanding between miners and the Bureau. Since 1967, Kay was an active member of the Sunset Baptist Church and volunteered as a tutor for the ESL, literacy counsels teaching English as a second language. She had a love for sports, especially basketball. Kay also loved giraffes and classic music, especially the Irish Tenors. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Max Reynolds and his wife, Mary; brother, Jack Reynolds; and former husband, Fred Kletka, Jr. She is survived by her son, Eric Kletka of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter, Karla Ruhoff and her husband Donald of Anchorage, AK; grandsons, Jeff Herrington and his wife, Miha and Brody Ward; granddaughters, Renaye Lavin and her spouse, Jennifer Johnston, Nicole Kukucvka and her husband, Robert; great-granddaughter, Chloe Herrington; great-grandsons, Niilo Johnston and Pierceson Kukucvka; daughter, Kirina Bazzell and her husband, Bryan of Anchorage, AK; grandsons, Brennen and Bryce Bazzell; granddaughter, Kaylyn Bazzell; great-grandson, Logan Bazzell; son, Kris Kletka and his wife Kathy of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughters, Sarah and her husband, Jordan Williamson, Bethany and Hannah Kletka; grandson, Seth Kletka; and numerous cousins from Texas and Indiana. The family welcomes flowers as Kay's favorite flowers were red roses. Please refrain from any lilies. Memorial contributions may be made in Kay's memory to the Sunset Hills Baptist Church, Reference: ESL Program, 12130 Old Seward Hwy., Anchorage, AK 99515.
