Carol Jeanne De Leon, age 79, passed away peacefully October 13, 2021 at her home in North Texas due to Alzheimer's. She was born August 30, 1942 in South Bend, Indiana to George Jaskowiak and Kathryn Jaskowiak. Carol was born & raised in South Bend where she met the love of her life, Jose. Jose happened to be in South Bend from Texas for some work and randomly met Carol. After marrying and starting a family they decided to move to Texas in 1973. Their journey continued with their growing family and moving to Illinois and finally moving back to Texas to be closer to family. She was a homemaker, babysitter and fitting room attendant at Ross's department store. With all her roles in life, she was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma, Grandmother and Nana. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went, always striking up a conversation with strangers. Carol was known for her patience, cooking some awesome meals without a receipt, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. She leaves behind a family that she was very proud of and that will sorely miss her. Carol is survived by her husband of 55 years Jose "Joe" De Leon; daughters Clara "Kitty" Jones, Melissa (Rey Martinez) De Leon, Cristina De Leon; sons Miguel (Anabell) De Leon, Jaime (Laura) De Leon; grandchildren Krystal (Eric) Moran, Kira Martinez, Jaden Martinez, Trisha De Leon, Michael De Leon, Martin De Leon, Marie Doctor; great-grandchildren Kennedy Moran, Hannah Moran; sisters Victoria (Craig) Stender, Jeri Stuermer; brother Michael Jaskowiak; sisters-in-law Zulema Torres, Felipa (Robert) Ruiz, Maria Hernandez; brothers-in-law Oscar (Tomasa) De Leon, Javier (Mary) De Leon and multiple beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. All of these she loved and touched deeply. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Martin De Leon, father George Jaskowiak and mother Kathryn Jaskowiak. No funeral service will be held at this time. Carol wanted to make a contribution to Alzheimer's research so she graciously donated her body to UT Southwestern for research.
