Mishawaka - The Very Reverend Sergei Holowko, 63, passed away on Thursday, February 4 in Mishawaka. Sergei was born on November 30, 1946 in Germany to John and Katherine (Muschuk) Holowko. He was preceded in death by his parents. On August 15, 1998 he married the former Melodie E. Phend. Surviving are his loving wife; and children, Tonya (Tom) Letherman of South Bend, Tammy (fianc, Tim Ambs) McCray of Niles, MI, Theresa Tirotta of Elkhart, Gregory (Dina) Reese of Wildamar, CA and Robert Tirotta of Elkhart;a son John Anthony of Canada seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a brother, John J. (Lisa) Holowko Jr. of New Jersey. Sergei was a Veteran of the United States Army serving his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was active with many Veterans Groups. He enjoyed Karaoke and was an avid Notre Dame and Yankees fan. He served two parishes in Chicago, IL and one in Milwaukee, WI. His last position was Clergy at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Goshen. He was a very devoted husband and caring father. Sergei never met a person who did not become a friend.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Assn Inc.,
