Age 87 of 2801 Cottonwood Lane, died at 8 a.m. in St. Joseph's Medical Center after a lenfthy illness. He retired in 1951 as Assistant Fire Chief of the South Bend Fire Dept after 25 years. Services in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, burial in Highland Cemetery. He was a Navy veteran of WW I. His first wife, the former Helen Walkowiak died in 1969. On 1 May 1970 in South Bend he wed Mrs. Marie Jachimiak who survives with a son, James H. Monserez of South Bend, a stepson Joseph Jachimiak of South Bend; 7 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; & 2 step great grandchildren.
