SOUTH BEND, IN - LaVern R. Buss, 80, passed away at 4:53pm Monday, December 14, 2020 in his residence, surrounded by his family. LaVern was born on November 14, 1940 in South Bend to LaVern and Irene (Vargo) Buss. He retired from Society Bank where he was Vice-President of Operations. LaVern also served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a devoted husband and father and loved to take his dog Grace for walks, as well as doing yardwork and word search puzzles. On April 11, 1964 he married the former MaryAnn Krizmanich who survives along with a daughter, Kim Buss. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Fabiszak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am in St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Viewing will take place from 10:00am until services in the church. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be enforced. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Pet Refuge or St. Jude Church.
