SOUTH BEND, IN - Joseph R. Fuzey, 74, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family, following a battle with cancer. He was born on July 7, 1944 to the late Joseph T. and Naomi (Bueche) Fuzey in South Bend, IN, was raised in Mishawaka, and was a lifelong area resident. Joseph graduated in 1962 from St. Joseph High School and then attended Ivy Tech Community College. He retired in 2010 from Salvation Army in South Bend, IN, where he worked as a Maintenance Manager Technician and was a mentor for the residents at the Salvation Army A.R.C. Joseph was previously employed at C&B Optical in both South Bend and Mishawaka, where he worked as an Optical Lab Technician; King Optical in South Bend, where he was a store manager; and at CM Grinding, Inc. in South Bend. On June 6, 1970, he married Rebecca A. VanScoyk in South Bend, IN. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Rebecca A. Fuzey of South Bend, IN; one daughter, Julie (John) Lancaster of Niles, MI; five sons, Joseph (Santanna) Fuzey of Plymouth, IN, Jon (Jackie) Fuzey of South Bend, IN, Jere (Stasia) Fuzey of South Bend, IN, Jayme (Carrie) Fuzey of South Bend, IN, and Joshua (Renee) Fuzey of South Bend, IN; 14 grandchildren, Ashley, Nathan, Makayla, Jared, Tyeson, Gage, Zyler, Aiden, Amaya, Anna, Ava, Jenna, Zachary, and Gina; three great-grandchildren, Maverick, Morgan, and Kaylee; one sister, Rita Miller of Naples, FL; one niece, Jennifer; one nephew, Jeffery; and three special nieces, Joann, Lisa, and Melissa. Joseph was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of the New Carlisle United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Emmaus Community. Joseph loved photography, and most of all spending time with his family. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Pastor Kalvin Morrison officiating. Burial will follow.
