SOUTH BEND - Bernice R. Splawski, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2014. Bernice was born on September 7, 1925, to the late Lucas and Frances (Sokolowski) Ambroziak. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Splawski; and son, David Splawski; sisters, Sophie and Jean Ambroziak, Helen Kazmierczak and Angie Berus; and a brother, Joseph Ambroziak. Bernice is survived by her children, Donald Splawski and Patricia (James) Lyons, both of South Bend; brother, Valentine Ambroziak of South Bend; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bernice was a lifelong parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She retired from Sobenite Plastics after 17 years of service. Bernice was a kind and generous lady. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bernice will be missed dearly by all. Visitation for Bernice will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Thursday, June 12, 2014, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, IN, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm. Entombment will follow at St Joseph Cemetery. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., will be assisting the family. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Center for Hospice of South Bend for their support and care to Bernice in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be directed to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W.
