SOUTH BEND - Kazimiera Szumial, 90, passed away at 5:20 pm Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in her residence surrounded by her family. Kazimiera was born January 25, 1922 in Wapienno, Poland to the late Jan and Joanna (Broniczka) Wesolek. On July 6, 1946 in Germany, Kazimiera married Stefan Szumial; he preceded her in death on January 30, 1979. Kazimiera is survived by daughters, Jolanta Szumial and Stephanie (Tom) Mammon of South Bend; son, Ben Szumial of South Bend; grandchildren, Mark (Becky) Mammon and Brooke Szumial; and great-grandchildren, Emma Grace and Andrew Stephen Mammon. Kazimiera was a homemaker; she worked very hard around the house and took pride in her gardening. Kazimiera was an extremely loving wife, mother and person. A Private Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, September 7, 2012 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Lake Parkway, Suite 210, South Bend, Indiana 46545.
