Victor P. "Vic" Lichnerowicz
April 27, 1939 - June 20, 2015
SOUTH BEND - Victor P. Lichnerowicz, 76, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015, in the Healthwin Nursing Facility. Victor was born April 27, 1939, in South Bend, to the late Roman and Caroline (Janiszewski) Lichner-owicz. Victor was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Lichner-owicz; brothers-in-law, Walter Rzepka and Deacon Eugene Szynski. On August 18, 1962, Victor married his loving wife, Julie (Szynski) Lichnerowicz; she survives along with their children, Debra (David) Hansen of Granger and Sherri (James P.) Wiley of South Bend; grandchildren, Kassidy and Tyler Wiley, Katelin and Sarah Hansen; great-grandchildren, Tali, Gigi, and Vinny Wiley; sister-in-law, Theresa Lichnerowicz of South Bend; sister, Rose "Babe" (Richard) Rininger of South Bend; brother, Charles (Ruth) Lichner-owicz of South Bend; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Rzepka, Genevieve Szynski; and many nieces and nephews. Vic honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He retired in 2000 after 29 years with the St. Joseph County Police Department. Vic was a member of the F.O.P. 155, and a parishioner of St. Pius Catholic Church. Vic completed the Supervisory Development Program at the University of Notre Dame. Also, he enjoyed Notre Dame football; Vic went to many of the games. One of his favorite hobbies was playing golf. Vic loved spending time and babysitting his grandchildren and great-grand-children. He went to all of their sporting events. Vic was a very proud father, grandpa, and he cherished his grandchildren. We love you dad "a bushel and a peck 44, 10 ton too, and all my heart." Visitation for Victor will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 25, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 1:00 pm Friday, June 26, 2015. Cremation will follow.
