Joseph Tomaszewski died in the early morning of Thursday July 4, 1957, from a fatal stabbing at his residence in the 900 block of S. Michigan St. Joseph was a World War II veteran serving in the US Army and Honorably discharged in August of 1947. On September 29, 1956 he was married in Lakeville, Indiana to Bonnie Davis who survives. Also surviving are father Frank Tomaszewski Sr. and stepmother Angela Tomaszewski. Four brothers; Walter, John, Frank and step brother Stanley. Two sisters; Betty Frost (Jack Frost) and step sister, Mary Yakim (Steve) all of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Amelia Tomaszewski and a sister Agnes.Funeral services for Joseph will be held at 9:00am, Monday, July 8th in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 331 So. Scott St. Rev. B.J. Stuczko will officiate. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, 61300 US31. South Bend American Legion, Post 50 will conduct military rites at the graveside. Family and friends are being received at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 So. Michigan St., South Bend, until the time of service.
