MISHAWAKA - Elaine L. Miller, 81, of Mishawaka, IN (formerly of South Bend), passed away at 7:22 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, in her home following a lengthy illness. She was born on October 26, 1932, to the late Alexander and Regina (Sikorski) Nowacki in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Kaniewski. On April 19, 1952, as Elaine L. Nowacki, she married Forrest C. Miller. He died on April 30, 2005. Elaine is survived by her three sons, Chad (Donna) Miller of Granger, IN, Douglas (Steffany) Miller of Mishawaka, IN, and Bruce (Chris) Miller of Granger, IN; 12 grandchildren: Jessica, Austin, Danny, John, Cherie, Jodie, Aaron, Gabriel, Grace, Alison, Nicole, and Colette; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Gabey of South Bend, IN. Mrs. Miller was an avid volunteer with The Christ Child Society and Holy Cross Church. Elaine enjoyed playing cards with her friends, and loved attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Pastor Bob Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
