NEW ALBANY, IN - ROBERT (WAWRZYNIAK) “BOB” LAWRENCE, 86, passed away Monday January 30, 2017 at the Providence Retirement Home. He was born in South Bend, IN. and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a 1953 Graduate of Purdue University and received his Master's Degree from Purdue in 1959. Bob was an Engineer and a Manufacturer's Representative. He was a Disabled American Veteran, a member of the Rotary Club, The Toastmasters, the old New Albany Country Club and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church(OLPH). Bob sang in several choirs in the area including both St. Mary's and OLPH. He was Past-President of the Purdue Alumni Club of Falls Cities and a lifetime member of the John Purdue Club. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Cecelia Wawrzyniak and 3 brothers: Richard, Daniel and Ray Wawrzyniak. Survivors include: His wife of 60 years: LaVerne Poff Lawrenc e, 2 Sons: Dr. Tom Lawrence(Sue) and Dr. Steve Lawrence(Lindsey), 3 Grandchildren: Matt Lawrence(Sarah), Chris Lawrence(Chelsea) and Nick Lawrence, 1 Great Grandchild: Maggie Lawrence, and 2 Sisters-in-law: Jean and Maxine Wawrzyniak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday February 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church(1752 Scheller Lane: New Albany, IN.) with entombment at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 PM Friday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville(1119 E. Market St: New Albany, IN.). Memorial Contributions: OLPH.
