U.S. VeteranElmer R. Adolph, 83, of Buchanan, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Plus Syndrome. Elmer was born October 27, 1931 to Eugene and Carrie Adolph in Shelbyville, IL. He graduated from Buchanan High School in 1950 and then went into the military. On July 7, 1953 he married Keiko Ishibashi in Japan. Elmer was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1955. He started a tool and die apprenticeship at Clark Equipment Company and attended Acme Tool and Engineering 4 year Apprenticeship program. Elmer retired from Clark Equipment Company after 30 plus years. He then worked for Bosch for 15 years before his final retirement.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Keiko Adolph; children, Mary (Bill) Davison of Granger, IN, Barbara Walker of Buchanan, MI and Stephen Adolph of Niles, MI; sister, Judy (Doyle) Vergon; grandchildren, Ashley (Joshua) Kelver, Joseph Walker, Sarah Walker, Chelsea Adolph and Courtney Adolph and one great grandchild, Blake Walker.Elmer is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Bill Walker.A memorial visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Buchanan Christian Church. The memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. with Pastor Nathan Babcock officiating. There will be a dinner following the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Buchanan Athletic Boosters or Hospice at Home, Inc. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
