George W Truex, 86, passed away at 8 o’clock Wednesday morning at his home here, after a long illness of kidney trouble and complications. Mr Truex, who was the son of Mr and Mrs John P Truex, was born July 12, 1854, on a farm in Union Township, Elkhart county. Nearly 50 years of his life was spent on his farm in Locke township on the county line road, 5 1/2 miles southwest of town. Two years ago he and Mrs Truex moved from the farm to their present home which they purchased at that time. Mr Truex was married to Sarah Bliley on the first day of April, 1886, who survives him at death.
To this marriage were born six sons, William, Jess and Harvey of this place, Roy of Oak Grove, and Edward and Charles of Elkhart. A seventh son, Orville, died in 1910. Besides these children there remain 20 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist church for a number of years. The body was returned to the home this, Thursday, morning from the Lienhart mortuary. A short service will be held at the house at 1 pm Friday, followed by further services at the South Union Chapel in charge of the Elder John Skinner of the Primitive Baptist church. Burial will be in the South Union cemetery.
