Robert E. "Bob" Wisniewski, 82, passed away into eternal life after an extended illness on Saturday, April 11th, at 12:20 a.m. in the Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, South Bend. Robert was born on Oct. 4, 1926, to the late Frank and Mamie (Miller) Wisniewski in South Bend. On November 2, 1963, in Bryan, Ohio, he married the former Patricia "Pat" Starzynski, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Robert "Rob" Jr., and daughter-in-law, Melodie, who reside in Mishawaka, IN, along with twin granddaughters, Aprilyn Nicole and Brittany Melissa, who reside at home. He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Tabler of Terre Coupe and Karen (Edward) Starzynski of South Bend; along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his parents were a sister, Patricia Luther, and a brother, Renold Wisniewski.
Bob was an avid reader, especially interested in books on the Civil War. His other interests were watching the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, and going to Silver Hawks games, fishing with Rob and his friends on Lake Michigan, and feeding the squirrels and birds in his back yard. He just liked to be and do things outdoors. Bob was a member of Michiana Steelheaders in Mishawaka. He was also a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust which preserves Civil War battleground land. There were several jobs he had in his lifetime that he regularly talked about, those being at the Ward Baking Co., Singer Mfg. When the twin granddaughters were born, after his retirement, he was designated baby-sitter, taking them for wagon rides in warm weather, on a sled in the winter and reading stories to them. He dearly loved those girls. Friends and family may visit in the Kaniewski Funeral home, 3545 N.
