MISHAWAKA - Nilene A. Ferro, 78, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 11:59 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2013, in her residence. She is survived by two sons, Larry Davis (Suzanne) and Michael Davis (Connie), both of Granger; one daughter, Terri (Michael) Linsky of Osceola; three stepdaughters, Debra Szul of Osceola, Gayla (Jim) Kieft of South Bend and Tina Ritter of South Bend; one stepsister, Barbara (Ernest) Lopez of Prescott, AZ, and one step brother, Louis Kolupa (Arlene) of Sarasota, FL. She leaves seven grandchildren, four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. She was born October 30, 1934, in Elkhart, IN, to Elizabeth (Sinclair) and Nile Fergison. Both preceded her in death. As Nilene Fergison Davis she married Robert J. Ferro in South Bend on June 15, 1963. He preceded her in death October 20, 2007. She graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1952. She was a member of the Alumni Association for many years. In 1997 she retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company after 34 years of service. She took art lessons and enjoyed working with pastels and oils and working with her fellow students. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. The family would like to thank Dr. Balil Ansari, Ruth Conley NP, and all the nurses and staff at the Michiana Hematology Oncology in Mishawaka for the wonderful care they gave her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the charity of the donor's choice . Visitation will be on Friday, August 30, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where there will also be a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, with Pastor Rick Callahan officiating the services.
