SOUTH BEND - South Bend - Raymond Chester Lopinski, 74, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 in Wellbrooke of South Bend. Raymond was born February 18, 1943 in South Bend to the late Chester and Helen Lopinski. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lucia (Robert) LeeVan, Rita Lopinski and a beloved niece, Margaret Andrie. Raymond is survived by his brother, Leonard (Sue) Lopinski; sister, Susan (David) Sanford; nieces & nephews, Michael LeeVan, Michelle LeeVan, Steven (Christa) LeeVan, Greg LeeVan, Michael Andrie, Tony (Mary Ann) Vargo, Alexis Sanford, Ryan Sanford and Nicole Sanford; great-nieces and nephews, Rachel & Nick Andrie, Casey & Bethany Leevan and Nathan Vargo. The family would like to thank Tom and Laura Kowalski for being very kind friends to Ray. Ray retired from Bendix/Honeywell in 2005 after 38 years of employment. He was a Parishioner of St. Hedwig Parish where he served as an usher during Mass and a member of the Holy Name Society. Ray was also an Associate Member of the American Legion Post #357, Z.B. Falcons Post 80, and bowled in a league. He enjoyed gardening, Polish cuisine, cars, Notre Dame football, Cubs Baseball and loved his dog, Phoebe.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the South Bend Animal Clinic, 3224 Lincoln Way W. South Bend, IN 46628 or St. Hedwig's Parish, 331 S. Scott St. South Bend, IN 46601. A Memorial Celebration for Raymond will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, with Visitation from 10:00am-12:00pm, a Rosary prayed at 12:00pm and a Funeral Ceremony beginning at 12:30 pm. Burial at a future date in St Joseph Cemetery.
