Geoffrey Stephen Rezutko of Elkhart, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 17, 2015. He was born on September 21, 1961 in Elkhart. Geoffrey graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School. He then graduated from Purdue University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technology. After college Geoff served in the United States Air Force, graduating from Officer Candidate School and receiving his wings in San Antonio, TX. He loved to fly and was later employed as a co-pilot for Mesaba Airlines and a flight instructor at Vincennes University. Later in life, Geoff owned and rented real estate in the local area for many years. Geoff married the love of his life, Donna Rettger, in Lima, Ohio, March 20, 1993 and spent 22 wonderful years together. He and Donna were two lovebirds throughout their marriage and enjoyed camping and traveling. Central to their life together was the Lord Jesus Christ and their church. They were members of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church in Elkhart. He had a passion for photography, was a real handyman, and always enjoyed taking on a new project. He also loved fishing and cycling.
Geoffrey is survived by his wife, Donna, mother Judy (Dennis) Flora of Granger, father, Stephen (Diane) Rezutko of Elkhart, brothers Dean (Holly) Flora of Engelwood, CO, Doug (Dana) Flora of Kansas City, MO, David (Twila) Rezutko of Elkhart, Matthew Rezutko of Elkhart, and sisters Amy (Eric) Holland of St. Louis, MO, and Kimberly Rezutko of Elkhart, grandmother Ethel (Kambs) Umble of Goshen, IN, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, at Walley Mills Zimmerman Funeral Home, 700 E. Jackson in Elkhart. There will also be one hour of visitation before the funeral services which will be held at McCoy Memorial Baptist Church, 134 St. Clair Ave., Elkhart, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, with Pastor Ray Laborde officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Geoff’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project .
