SOUTH BEND - Shirley A. Speelman, 27, went home to be with her Lord at 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on April 28, 1984, in South Bend, and had been a lifelong resident. Shirley is survived by her two children, Alyssa M. Speelman and Gavin J. Geier, both at home; mother, Shirley A. (Boyer) Speelman of South Bend; birth mother, Wanda Cutting of South Bend; boyfriend, Yancy Geier of South Bend; brother, Donny Speelman of Mishawaka; uncle, Tony Speelman of Mishawaka; and many nieces and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, James H. Speelman Sr.; and two uncles, James Speelman Jr. and Howard Speelman. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 5:30-6:30 on Thursday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Shirley A.
