SOUTH BEND - Eugene “Toonie” Hancz, 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Memorial Hospital. Eugene was born on September 17, 1928 in South Bend to Joseph and Veronica (Hoffer) Hancz. He was the owner / operator of Steve & Gene's Salvage Yard. Gene was preceded in death by his former wife Doris, four sisters Irene Balint, Emma Ringler, Helen Robinson, and Theresa Meszaros, and four brothers Joseph Hancz, John Hancz, Peter Hancz and Alex Hancz. Surviving are a daughter Amy (Mark) Bullington of Fishers, IN, two sons Scott (Pam) Hancz of South Bend and Eric (Susan) Hancz of McKinney, TX and six grandchildren Brendan, Corey, Alex, Brittany, Emily, and Lindsay. Funeral services will be celebrated at 8:00pm Friday, January 12, 2018 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Private burial services will be at a later date.
