SOUTH BEND - Services for Marie M. Strantz, 79, of U.S. 31 South, who died Thursday in Memorial Hospital, will be at noon Monday in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity. Mrs. Strantz was former owner of I & M Tavern. She was a Eucharistic minister and served at Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph's care centers and nursing homes. She was born Feb. 13, 1916, in South Bend.
On July 3, 1938, in South Bend, as Marie M. Goepfrich, she married Ignatius Strantz. He died Aug. 10, 1979. Surviving are a son, William ''Bill'' of South Bend; a grandchild; and a sister, Rose Ann Schneider of Elkhart. She was a member of the Rosary Society of the church, Daughters of Isabella, SAGE of Memorial Hospital and the DAV German Club Auxiliary. She was also a member of Christ Child Society, St. Joseph County Right to Life and Catholic Charities.
