NILES - Anne C. Pluta, 92, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009, in the Brentwood Assisted Living Center in Niles, MI. Anne was born on April 19, 1917, in Stevens Point, WI, to the late Joseph and Anna (Piwowarczyk) Balon Sr. On December 31, 1941, in South Bend, Anne married Sigmund J. Pluta, who passed away February 25, 1965. She was also preceded in death by brothers, John and Joseph Jr., and by a sister, Mary Sobieralski. Anne is survived by her son, Daniel (Linda) Pluta of North Carolina, and grandchildren, Stephanie E. and Nicholas D. Anne worked as a pattern folder before she retired in 1976. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her own house up to the age of 85. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Niles, MI, with visitation one hour prior in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
