INDEX

[N33558] Donald Eugene Wagley
Sept 2,1927 - November 5, 2022

Donald Eugene Wagley left this earth on November 5, 2022, at 95 years old. He was a member of the “Greatest Generation” having served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II on SS AJAX Repair Ship. Don began each day telling God that he knew God was in control of what happened in his life that day. Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Don married Norma L. Eiler on December 4, 1948. Their union lasted seventy years until Norma’s passing on May 30, 2019. They are now reunited in heaven. Don and Norma had a son, James R. Wagley, who survives. Jim is missing his dad and his buddy today. Many people are left to cherish the memory of Don; his niece, Linda L. Kujawski, who loved him like a dad; Don’s brother, Bill, who was his pal and his fishing buddy; Don’s longtime friend, Al; Don’s other two surviving brothers, Dick and Dennis; Don’s neighbors, especially Dominic, Rhyme, Shane and Milo; Don’s friends he made as a pattern maker. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Nettie Wagley; Don’s brother, Jack and Don’s sister, Jean. Jack and Jean were twins and Don used to tell a funny story about how on the day they were born, he asked his dad to take back his twin brother because he already had a younger brother, Bill. Don would have wanted to give special thanks to the staff at Michiana Hematology and Oncology, especially to Dr. Robin Zon, who treated him for leukemia. Don was only supposed to live 1-5 years after being diagnosed with it, but, instead, he lived 22 more years. He went fishing in his nineties. Don was God’s miracle. An important memory to Don in his youth was hearing George Beverly Shea sing at Winona Lake. Don’s favorite hymn was “How Great Thou Art”. Don was a proud 1945 graduate of Mishawaka High School. Don is with his Lord and Savior. Funeral Service for Don will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Palmer Funeral Home - Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN 46545 with visitation one hour prior. Friends may also visit with the family from 4:00pm - 7:00pm Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s name may be made to the Salvation Army, 5550 Prairie Stone Pkwy, Hoffman Estates, IL 60192 or Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Pl., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
