Ruth May Kindig, 96, residing on South Tuxedo Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away early Wednesday morning, March 10, in her home. Mrs. Kindig was born on Jan. 9, 1903, in South Bend, to the late Henry and Grace Eaton Fortin, and had remained a lifelong resident of this community.On May 5, 1920, in St. Joseph, Mich., as Ruth Fortin, she married Carlton Ephram Kindig, who passed away on Aug. 12, 1996. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Virginia (Murray) earick of Quincy, Ill., Betty (Robert) Wachs of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Joan (Hugo) Erickson of Mishawaka, Ind.; two sons and their wives, Carlton E. (Sylvia) Kindig of Mishawaka and Thomas F. (Gloria) Kindig of Jonesville, Mich.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Esther Oberle of Largo, Fla. Mrs. Kindig was a member of the River Park United Methodist Church, South Bend. She retired from the South Bend Watch Company where she served in the cost department. Services for Mrs. Kindig will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 15, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Edward L. Fritz, pastor of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in the Palmer Funeral Home.Ruth May Fortin Kindig
