William Wren Weaver, 77 of South Bend passed away at 6:37 a.m. Thursday, February 24 in his residence. He was born May 6, 1927 in Urbana, Illinois. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel (Haltom) Crofoot; his stepfather, Walter "W.B." Crofoot; a sister, Norma Ruth Weaver and his father, Christopher Wren Weaver. On July 8, 1976, in Las Vegas he married Nancy Shuppert, who survives. Bill is also survived by two daughters, Janice (Bruce) Reaves of South Bend, Jill M. Weaver of Mishawaka; two sons, Gary and Jason Weaver, both of South Bend; two grandsons, Jeremy Reaves and Brady Weaver; and one great-grandson, Brayden Reaves. Also surviving is the former wife, Jeanne Marie Miller Weaver. Bill was the former owner of Truck Trailer Supply Company in South Bend. He was a World War II Army Veteran and was a member of VFW Post 1954 in North Liberty. Bill was very upbeat and courageous during his lengthy illness and provided inspiration to all those he came in contact with. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation" and proudly served his country during World War II. Bill loved his family and will be greatly missed. Services for Bill were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 28, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home. Rev. John Railton of Timberland Bible Church, South Bend, conducted services. Burial is at Porter Rea Cemetery, located in Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty, Indiana where military rites will be performed by VFW Post 1954, North Liberty. In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorial contributions be made in Bill's name to the donors choice.
