NEW CARLISLE - Rose M. Borek, 86, passed away at 1:40 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in Memorial Hospital. Rose was born November 16, 1925, in South Bend, IN, to the late John and Josephine Niedzwiadek. Rose married Stanley J. "Steve" Borek on September 7, 1946, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Rose is also survived by sons, James (Peggy) Borek of Lawton, MI, and Carl (Sharon) Borek of South Bend, IN; grandchildren, Edward J. Borek of South Bend, IN, Rodney Bowen of Raleigh, NC, Daniel P. (Dee) Borek of Summerville, SC, Timothy J. (Rosemary) Borek of Indianapolis, IN, Leslie (Kevin) Boardman of South Bend, IN, Keri (Matthew) Hemmerling and Kelly Borek, all of Las Vegas , NV; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Rose retired from the University of Notre Dame after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. She was a candy striper at Memorial Hospital South Bend during World War II, and an avid bingo player; she loved knitting and cooking, and taking care of her husband and family, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a parish Rosary with be prayed at 11:15 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 Grace St., South Bend. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
