SOUTH BEND - Rita L. (Singleton) Freese, 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 11th at The Center for Hospice Care, with her loving family by her side. Rita was born in North Liberty, IN on November 3, 1935 to the late Emery O. and Bernardina M. (Wesolek) Singleton. On April 16, 1955 in Walkerton, IN she married Jerry W. Freese. Jerry passed away on May 14, 2019. Rita is survived by her daughters, Annette M. Freese, Susan M. Sack both of South Bend, granddaughter, Emily C. Sack of Mishawaka and sister, Monica McCrum of Bass Lake, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry, brother, John E. Singleton and son-in-law, Steve Sack. Rita was a homemaker and enjoyed every minute, with friends and family. She was very active in the Women's Circle and the church council at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions be made in Rita's name to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1021 Manchester Drive, South Bend, IN 46615. Visitation for Rita will be on Saturday, May 15th from 1:30 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 1021 Manchester Drive, South Bend, IN. The funeral service will follow at the church at 3:30 P.M. with Rev. Kenneth Peterson officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
