MISHAWAKA - Helen M. Zalejski, 89, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009 in Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth, IN, with her family by her side. Helen was born on May 18, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Leon and Cecelia (Rabczewska) Rabczewski. On November 7, 1942, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church, Helen married Edward Zalejski and he passed away on December 30, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Makowski; and sisters, Martha Cosby and Frieda Wincek. Helen is survived by her daughters, Christine Moeller of Walnut Creek, California and Patricia (Ben) Noell of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Tammy (Robert) Boblitz, Benny (Yvonne) Noell, Ken (Cheryl) Noell, Kevin (Erin) Noell, Jeff (Jennifer) Moeller, Jon (Tara) Moeller, and Jennie Moeller; and seven great-grandchildren. Helen was known as "Busia" to everyone. She retired form working as a waitress. She was a parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Matthew and often would attend church with her family at Oak Tree Community Church. She loved eating out, going to the movies, and most of all she loved and cherished her family and the time she spent with them. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010 in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. We would like to thank the staff and nurses at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth and Hospice for the exceptional care given to our Mom.
