GRANGER - Due to a tragic automobile accident, Evan Donald Sobecki, 24, left this earth early Sunday morning to be with his Jesus forever. Evan was born in Mishawaka and is survived by his parents, Gregory Joseph and Diana Lynn (Birk) Sobecki of Granger. Other survivors include his two older brothers, Ryan J. (Alysen) Sobecki of Mishawaka and Adam C. (Erin) Sobecki of Granger; his grandmothers, Joyce Birk of Mishawaka and Geraldine Sobecki of Mishawaka; maternal aunt, Carrie (Chuck) Cealka and family of Cassopolis; paternal uncle, Kenneth (Lynn) Sobecki and family of Niles; and paternal aunt, Sharon (Kevin) Toth and family of Mishawaka. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Sara Izdepski, of Granger. Evan is survived by many friends, too numerous to count. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Edward Sobecki and Donald Birk. Evan was a 2006 graduate of Penn High School where he played and excelled in football and baseball as well as being a member of the National Honor Society. Throughout his life, Evan helped improve his community through selfless acts of volunteering. He went four years to Wabash College where he also played football and served in leadership in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Evan enjoyed playing golf and also played on a local church softball team. He previously attended Granger Missionary Church where he was involved in the youth group. He recently helped establish Surface Revival LLC where he was employed. Visitation will be TODAY from 3-8 pm at Granger Missionary Church, 50841 Birch Rd, on the corner of SR 23 near the Michigan state line. Funeral services will also be held at the church, on Saturday at 11 am. Rev. Earl Smith will officiate.
