LA PORTE - Betty Conjalka, age 88, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jones; sons, Charles (Connie) Conjalka and Alan Conjalka; grandchildren, Tristan and Bonnie Jones and Carrie (Ryan) O'Donnell.
Preceded in death by her husband, Carl Adam Conjalka; son, Karl John Conjalka and 2 brothers. Betty was born on March 17, 1928 in Buchanan, MI. She was a 1949 graduate of Memorial School of Nursing in South Bend, IN. In 1949, she married Carl Adam Conjalka in Buchanan, MI. Betty was an advanced quilter, seamstress and crafter. She was active in many activities including the Rolling Prairie Community Center and Quilting Group, Meals on Wheels, was a proud Red Hatter. She generously gave of her time to 4-H, Church activities and political causes. Her recent achievement was having her quilt block chosen to represent La Porte County in the Indiana Bi-Centennial Barn Quilt Project. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 ‘C' Street La Porte, IN, with Rev. Jaime Perea, officiating. Interment to follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Haverstock Funeral Home 602 Maple Avenue La Porte, IN and on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at the church.
