MISHAWAKA - Eugene “Geno” D. Toth, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at North Woods Village at Edison Lakes, Mishawaka, IN. Gene was born on February 3, 1932 in South Bend to the late Michael and Marie (Pinter) Toth. On May 30, 1953 in South Bend, Gene married the former Jacqueline “Jackie” M. Simon, his high-school sweetheart whom he had known since they were fourteen years of age. Jackie preceded him in death on June 6, 2003. Gene is survived by daughters, Gina S. (Tom) Litka and Renee L. (Ed Parker) Toth, both of South Bend; grandchildren, Emily (Colin) McClelland of Huntsville, AL; Adam (Andrea) Litka of Mill Creek, IN; and William Litka of Buchanan, MI; six great grandchildren, Beryl, Rowan, Wyatt, Brittany, Sierra, and Kaylee. Gene served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed at A.M. General as an inspector, retiring after more than 35 years of employment. Gene was a caregiver for everyone. He had a big heart, and offered love and care for his entire family. Gene never knew a stranger. Funeral services for Gene will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN. Pastor James Miller will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend. The family will receive friends from 2:00-7:00pm on Sunday, December 10 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Gene may be donated to Alzheimer's and Dementia Services of Northern Indiana, 992 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617, or Great Lakes Caring Hospice Foundation, 2515 N. Bendix Drive, #100, South Bend, IN 46628.
