Elizabeth Jean Blotkamp, 45, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, in her home with her loving husband by her side. Ellie was born on January 10, 1977, in South Bend, to David and Barbara (Opaczewski) Wassenhove. Her father has preceded her in death. On September 30, 2006, Ellie married Tim Blotkamp. He survives along with sister, Emily (Michael) Walker and their children, Sadie, and Maggie; and brother-in-law, Andrew (Angela) Blotkamp and their children, Hannah, Grace, and Drew. Ellie attended St. Joseph High School in South Bend. She completed her undergraduate degree at St. Mary’s College and her Masters in Social Work at IUSB. Ellie devoted her professional career to helping South Bend’s underprivileged youth with time spent at the Charles Martin Youth Center and Madison Center. Most of all, “Auntie” Ellie enjoyed spending time with family, especially her nieces and nephew. She loved shopping, especially for antiques, decorating for the holidays, and anything involving NASCAR’s Tony Stewart. She will be forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank Amber Shortt for providing outstanding care during Ellie’s final years. There will be no services at this time.
