LIVONIA, MI - Sister Mary Luiza Wawrzyniak, 99, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2020, at the Felician Sisters Mother House in Livonia, Michigan. She is survived by her sister, Irene Pajakowski of South Bend, Indiana, nieces Rita (Tom) Kane, Annette Kubasik, Sister Mary Ann Pajakowski, C.S.C., Margaret Pajakowski, Marie (Ron) Knapp, Judy Jankowski, and Jennifer (Steve) Roschek, nephews Jeffrey Borkowski, Christopher Borkowski, many great nieces and nephews, and her sisters in the Franciscan Felician Sisters.Sister Luiza was born on January 13, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana to Vincent and Michalina Wawrzyniak. They preceded her in death, as did sisters Eleanor (Frank) Kubasik, Jane (Richard) Woltman, Stella (Robert) Jankowski, Sally (Walter) Borkowski, Alfreda Wawrzyniak, brothers Lucian Wawrzyniak, Edwin (Eleanor) Wawrzyniak, Stanley Wawrzyniak, brother-in-law John Pajakowski, nieces Dolores Pajakowski, Rachel Borkowski, Janice Wawrzyniak, and nephews Robert Kubasik, William Pajakowski, and James Jankowski. Sister Luiza served for 80 years in the religious life. She graduated from St. Adalbert Grade School and Saint Hedwig High School in South Bend. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her early twenties, she was unable to continue her teaching career, and served in many capacities at the Felician Sisters Mother House for many years. Her entire family remembers with great fondness her sweetness, humility, perseverance, and commitment to religious life. Even in her later years, she remembered every birthday and anniversary, and supported the family in constant prayer. A memorial mass and gathering will be held in Livonia at a later date.
