Charles H. Hess
Buchanan, Apr. 1, 1944 (Special) - Charles Hess, 71, died early this morning in his home four miles northwest of Buchanan, where he was born. He was a lifelong resident of Berrien county, and son of John and Elizabeth Hess.
On Aug. 30, 1905 Mr. Hess married Cora Enos of Watervliet. He had belonged to the Methodist Church for 38 years and was a member of Wagner Grange.
Surviving Mr. Hess are his wife, and a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Virginia E. Harroff of Route 2, Buchanan, Ralph Hess, of the family home on Route 2, and Cpl. Charles E. Hess, with the U.S. Army somewhere in England. He also leaves a brother, William Hess of Buchanan, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur Adams of Michigan City, Ind.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Swem Funeral home, with burial at Oak Ridge.
