SOUTH BEND - Virginia Rita Peczkowski, 86, passed away at 6:10 pm Thursday, March 10, 2016, in Heritage Point Alzheimer's Special Care Center. Virginia was born May 31, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Albert and Theresa (Sosnowski) Knapp. On October 9, 1948, Virginia married Robert E. Peczkowski, and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2015.Virginia was also preceded in death by brother, Arthur Knapp, and sister, Alice Szynski. Virginia is survived by son, Kenneth (Sarah Bird) Peczkowski of South Bend; daughters, Jill M. Gibson of Ft. Mojave, AZ, and Jennifer A. Pursley of Littleton, CO; grandsons, Ryan Gibbons and Jacob Pursley; granddaughters, Corinne (John) Bartley and Abigail Pursley; great-grandson, Jason; and her “Wawrzyniak” Cousins. Virginia was a member of The Battell Tappers Dance Group. She loved working with children in the neighborhood and had a passion for art, especially painting and gardening. Visitation is 11 am to 1 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Funeral Ceremony is 1 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in the funeral home.
