South Bend -- Edward F. Gleva, 73, of 1033 Golfview Lane, died at 11:25 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Gleva was retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 23 years. He was born Nov. 30, 1917, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On July 4, 1944, in South Bend, he married June Parrish. She died in 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Debbie L. Blair of South Bend; three sons, Frank E. of Fort Worth Texas, Russell of Mishawaka and John S. of South Bend; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Parrish of Winter Park, Fla., Joan Pagel of Reno, Nev., and Gertrude Fikes of Frederidcktown, Mo.; and a brother, John A. of South Bend.
Mr. Gleva was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1167. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
