She was the oldest daughter born to the late Albert and Dorothy (McQuinn) Ponto on December 7, 1937 in South Bend, IN. Sherry married the love of her life, John Paul Hans on June 29, 1957, and they were happily married for 53 years and had two beautiful children. John preceded her in death on March 6, 2010. Sherry was also preceded in death by her youngest sister, Diana L. Yoder on December 13, 2019. Sherry is survived by her son, John William Hans and his wife Tonya Teter-Hans, who felt very blessed to have loved and cared for Sherry for over 12 years. Sherry is also survived by her daughter Susan Ann (Hans) Stewart, 6 grown grandchildren children, 12 great- grandchildren and her sister, Sandra (John) Naperalski, a brother-in-law, Terry Yoder and several nieces and nephews, all whom she loved her dearly. Sherry was a stay-at-home mom, until her children were about 10 years old. She then chose to work with her husband, John and became the weekend and special-event hostess and was also the waitress/server-manager/trainer for the nearly 60 year , family owned "Hans Haus Restaurant" & "Ranita Bar", located on Michigan Street in South Bend., for over 20 plus years, until they sold and both briefly retired. Sherry was a very outgoing and bubbly person with a great sense of humor and the customers loved her! She made everyone feel very welcome! She also later became the co-owner and hostess for "Hans Country Cafe" in Edwardsburg, MI for 3 years before selling and finally retiring for good with her husband.Sherry and her husband built their home on Eagle Lake and loved water sports...John loved to sail and Sherry loved to ski and to take leisurely boat rides. She was an avid league bowler for many years, collected Fenton glassware, Bells, Barbies & Beanie Babies. She was dedicated in walking 4-5 miles every day up and down North Shore Drive, where she didn't know a stranger and enjoyed getting to know and build relationships with her neighbors along the way. Family meant everything to Sherry and she loved to cook Sunday dinners and spend quality time with her children and grandchildren. They all learned how to swim in Eagle Lake and loved swimming, tubing, fishing and boating! Countless memories were made at their beautiful Eagle Lake home and the family cherishes those precious memories. In later years she loved to go shopping weekly with her sister Diana, making sure to get her 30% off at Kohl's! Christmas was Sherry's favorite time of the year! She loved being Santa's helper and watching her children and grandchildren open their presents...it brought her such great joy to see their faces light up with excitement and suspense! Sherry was a very humble person who would much rather give...than to receive something. She was a nurturing and caring wife and mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Sherry was unique and was such a Blessing to all who knew and loved her! Sherry was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends!...Sherry was saved and loved Jesus Christ as her Savior and her family looks forward to reuniting with Sherry for eternity in Heaven's Paradise.
