SOUTH BEND - Frances Louise Danilowicz, 92, residing in South Bend, passed away at 6:42 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009, in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross. She was born September 9, 1916, in Lakeville, IN, the daughter of Jesse and Jennie (Garrett) Fisher, and had resided in St. Joseph County all of her life. On August 31, 1946, in South Bend, as Frances Fisher, she was united in marriage to Bert Danilowicz, who passed away April 29, 1993. Two sisters, Dorothy Titus in 1981 and Marjorie Freshour on March 14, 2006, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Danilowicz was employed with the former Fran's Modern Cleaners and Fran's Fashions in Mishawaka. She retired in 1978 from South Bend Controls. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, St. Joseph Chapter 569, was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie Lodge #435, the Chippewa Golden Gang Bowling League, and the Indiana State "600" Bowling Club. She is survived by two nieces, Betty Perkey and Nancy Freshour, both of South Bend, and a nephew, Paul (Barbara) Freshour II of South Bend. Two great-nieces, two great-nephews, and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews, great-great-great-nieces and nephews survive Frances as well. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Frances' dear friend and roommate, Grace Geraghty, and her family for all their kindness and wonderful friendship during Frances' stay at Holy Cross. Also special thanks to the nurses and staff of Sanctuary at Holy Cross for the excellent care offered to Frances, and the kindness shown to her family. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where members of St. Joseph Chapter 569, Order of Eastern Star, will conduct a memorial service at 12:45 p.m. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, with Rev. James B. Miller, pastor of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverview Mausoleum. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Danilowicz may be made to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, 17475 Dugdale Drive, South Bend, IN 46635.
