George A. Bonczynski
October 4, 1929 - July 11, 2021
South Bend - George A. Bonczynski, 91, passed away in his home on Sunday, July 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. George was born October 4, 1929 in South Bend, to the late Casimir and Roberta (Hart) Bonczynski. He is preceded in death by his 1st. wife, Carol Marie; 2nd wife, Patricia; son-in-law, Richard Seidl, granddaughter, Jennifer Namenye; brother, Edward J. (Patricia) Bonczynski; sister, Doris Sherman. On August 1, 2001 in South Bend George married Frances June (Nick) Bonczynski, she survives along with children, Nancy Seidl, Gail (Steve) Marx, Lydia (Kenneth) Lubinski, Daniel Bonczynski; 4 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and brother, Edward J (Patricia) Bonczynski. Other special people in his life that joined his family when he married June. George honorably served his country in the United States Navy as a 2nd class electrician on an aircraft carrier, during the Korean war. He retired in 1986 after 34 years from the Bendix Corporation. He was an Elder at West Side Church of Christ, and a member of Terre Coupe Lodge 204, and past Master Masons. He enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, turkey, rabbit, turtles for soup and squirrel (anything with fur and 4 legs), playing euchre, gardening, and western movies, his favorite was "Gunsmoke". George built the family home and their lake cottage with his own loving hands. He enjoyed "seek a word" puzzles, loved ice cream and pie, good home cooking, candy of all kinds, donuts and most of all steak and a good polish dinner. He especially loved spending time with his family. Visitation for George will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 15, 2021 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, July 16, 2021 in the West Side Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
